A perfect end to the week at Casademont Zaragoza’s home court (82-97)
J2 Liga Endesa 26/27
Valencia Basket capped off a perfect week by defeating Casademont Zaragoza 82-97 on their home court. Although they trailed in the first half, they turned the game around thanks to improved defense and shooting 14-of-21 from three-point range in the second half, securing their first Liga Endesa win at a notoriously difficult venue.
Statement by Xavi Albert
“This game highlights once again that we need to make certain adjustments. With three games in seven days, for one reason or another, we’ve been starting poorly and finding ourselves having to overcome deficits. Full credit goes to the opposing team, but this is becoming a trend we need to address so we don't have to fight so hard to catch up. We struggled to contain the plays Zaragoza was running. Certain adjustments on both ends of the floor—playing with less anxiety and sharing the ball—led to higher-percentage shots, and that efficiency was the result of better play execution. There is a difference between playing fast and taking bad shots. We saw a huge improvement in the second half, resulting in a final margin that, on paper, looks more comfortable than the game actually felt.”
